Meet Valeria and her colorful world

This book is the social project of a course completed by several classmates with the goal of raising funds for childhood cancer research.

Valeria and the World of Colorswas entirely created by the students of the High-Potential Women’s Leadership Development Program at EOI (School of Industrial Organization). Four classmates participated in this project: Sandra Comendador, Fernanda Vaca, María José Gutiérrez, and Alejandra Castillo. Sandra and Fernanda share more about it in this video:

The funds raised will go toward research on a type of childhood cancer called Gliomatosis Cerebri.

The book is based on a true story — Valeria’s — and was created to support cancer research in collaboration with the Izas, la princesa guisante foundation.

All proceeds will be donated to the Izas, la princesa guisante Foundation, which works to promote research into this rare disease. Due to its rarity, it has never been the subject of in-depth study; there is barely any medical literature on it, and the number of children affected is still unknown. You can purchase the book on Amazon.

This report by TVE provides more details about the disease and how this social project came to life:

We deliver a cultural center in Buenaventura, Colombia

Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico delivers a center in the village of Córdoba to support artistic development and community participation.

The Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico P3 company and the National Infrastructure Agency  have delivered the Bernarda Hurtado Cultural Center, located in the village center of the corregimiento of Córdoba, in Buenaventura, Colombia.

This initiative aims to contribute to the social and cultural strengthening of the community through the implementation of projects defined and approved by the Board of the Community Council of the Black Community of Córdoba, San Cipriano, and Santa Elena (CCCN).

This center will serve as a space where non-formal education, collective memory, artistic training, cultural entrepreneurship, and community participation converge. The project was carried out as part of a contribution made during the first year of the Construction Phase, as a compensatory measure for the impacts generated.

Actions like this also help advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are essential to closing historical gaps and promoting truly inclusive development. The center will foster community-based educational processes and cultural expressions, while also protecting and revitalizing the cultural heritage of Colombia’s Pacific region.
