Susana Carretero is a giving person. Ever since she was young, she has incorporated voluntary work in her day-to-day life. Like she says, a few weeks ago, she joined the call from the Sacyr Foundation to help at the Salvación de Dios parish with the Ukrainian community in Vallecas.
She was one of the 10 volunteers from Sacyr who came to help. As she retells, for many of the people there “what used to be around you, is gone”, and she could offer a hand because they “needed everything”. Despite of how arduous the two hours of voluntary work were, Susana tells us that she received more from the people she helped than what she gave.
Apart from this voluntary work activity last month, Susana already participated in a voluntary outing for families organized by the Sacyr Foundation, together with Fundación Down. Susana and her daughter went horse riding with children with disabilities.
Ever since she turned 18, she started doing voluntary work in a center for wards of the court. She has also collaborated with Cáritas, and now, she dedicates some of her free time to bake “solidary sponge cakes” for people in need that “only get a piece of sponge cake and coffee for dinner”.
