The Sacyr Foundation and Ayuda en Acción gave the certificates and the seed capital for more than 40 women entrepreneurs that participated in the project “Fortalecimiento de organizaciones y mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de jóvenes y mujeres, mediante la dotación de espacios culturales y de unidades empresariales” (“Strengthening of organizations and improvement of the quality of life of youths and women through the creation of cultural spaces and enterprise units in the Cristo Rey community”). The main goal of this project was to contribute to the social cohesion and improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Cristo Rey community in Pamplona, Norte de Santander.
“Projects like this fill us with pride, because we know that not only do we bring progress to the region by developing road infrastructure, but we also help the communities within the area of influence, by promoting their projects and creating a future with opportunities”, said Santiago Erans, Corporate director of Sacyr in Colombia.
The project lasted for six months, and it began with the giving of funding to the Asociación de Mujeres, that works in training for female empowerment, prevention of gender-based violence and socio-economic development; as well as the Fundación Dharma, that brings about activities with children and adolescents on peaceful conflict resolution, tutoring, management of free time, prevention of drug use, and food safety projects through the creation of community gardens.
Additionally, a group of more than 45 women participated in training sessions on topics such as empowerment, marketing and finance to strengthen their skills and enable them to develop their personal projects and contribute to their family finances. In 2022, the Sacyr Foundation and Ayuda en Acción will continue to develop projects like this in order to create opportunities and a better future for the communities within the area of influence of the Pamplona-Cúcuta road project.
