Between 800,000 to 1,200,000 people in Spain suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, and doctors have noticed great improvement and a reduction in emotional memory loss thanks to doll therapy, a non-drug therapy.
Experts find that the dynamic interaction between the patient and the doll activates innate instincts related to care, promoting affective communication.
This therapy option is complementary to drug therapy, and is a very versatile resource, since it can be used both in care centers, or at home.
For this purpose, the Sacyr Foundation is starting a collection of new or second-hand dolls (in good condition) to donate to the Alzheimer’s center in Getafe. If you’d like to collaborate, please, reach out to colaboro@sacyr.com.
