This initiative is framed in the Sacyr Foundation’s “1 map, 1 year” project, which aims to generate positive impacts across the entire Spanish geography. In this case, we have collaborated in Melilla, where Carlos Díaz, a Valoriza employee, is involved with the local Diving Club.
25 scuba divers in total went to the beach to clean the Aguadú and Horcas Coloradas areas, Díaz tells. There, the sorted themselves into three groups. Carlos led the 12 divers in the shore diving team and the rest went by boat.
The specialists had some help from more than 300 volunteers, that learned about the initiative thanks to the awareness-rasing efforts of the Sacyr Foundation and the Diving Club. The club members went to 9 secondary schools, 3 high schools and a retirement home to spread the word about beach and ocean cleanups.
