Reto is ready to assist and be a best friend to Javi, a child with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder).
Approximately two years ago, the Sacyr Foundation sponsored a dog, Reto, with our colleague María Ruiz-Casaux, who fostered him at her family home, and nourished his social skills for a year. During that time, Reto came every Friday with María to our Madrid offices. He became the next big thing, he interacted with everyone, let anyone pet him and learnt how to bond with others.
Our work with Reto was a collaboration with Fundación Bocalán, the organization that concluded Reto’s training and taught him to assist and care for children with ASD after the year he spent with María.
María told us that the experience was “enriching for the entire family: rasing Reto was a team effort. And while parting with him was hard, we are happy knowing that he is going to help a child with special needs”.
Last Friday February 5th, we held a small goodbye party for Reto at our headquarters, that Javi and his family attended to pick him up and meet him for the first time. Manuel Marinque, Chairman of Sacyr; Pedro Alonso, Chair of the Sacyr Foundation; Teo Mariscalm, Chair of Fundación Bocalán; and two of Reto’s trainers also attended the event.
