These patients have or have had cancer, most of them breast, ovarian or digestive cancer. Today, we want to raise awareness about the lives of this group of patients in commemoration of World Cancer Research Day on September 24th.
With a spirit of overcoming, the challenge of this therapeutic activity is all about sharing experiences around breast cancer and bringing symbolic closure to a tough stage in these women's lives.
The Camino de Santiago is an enriching experience for patients and professionals alike, as it helps them sympathize and learn about other life experiences behind each patient.
By supporting this project, the Sacyr Foundation seeks to ease the lives of women with cancer and strengthens its social commitment through this solidary and healthful initiative to raise awareness on cancer prevention and help patients bring back a sense of normalcy and bond with others with similar experiences.
The group walked five stages of the French way of the Camino, from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela (116 km) with base camp in Arzúa. A Sacyr Foundation colleague walked part of the way with them.
