The Sacyr Foundation and Sacyr Services have participated in the organization of the Green 21 event: a social training program in gardening developed with Down Madrid that is aimed at people with Down syndrome and fights for their inclusion in the labor market.
This innovative initiative was carried out in the gardens of Patrimonio Nacional in Quinta del Duque del Arco, located in El Pardo (Madrid), where 11 participants from Down Madrid made floral compositions following some designs. For this activity they had the support and collaboration of our colleagues from Valoriza Medioambiente.
Inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market
Next Friday, December 3, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is committed to inclusive, equitable and sustainable development; in line with the objective of these programs in which we help the labor inclusion of people with disabilities. Such is the case of several of the participants in Green 21 who will soon start to work in the gardening services that our subsidiary, Valoriza, performs in the Community of Madrid.
At the end of the event, three awards were presented to recognize different skills: excellence, which took into account the team that was most accurate in the representation, attention to detail and resembling the pre-designed drawing to a greater extent (presented by Ana de la Cueva, President of Patrimonio Nacional); teamwork, which recognized the collaboration, coordination and balance between the team participants (presented by Ignacio Egea, President of Down Madrid) and innovation, which rewarded the greatest capacity for adaptation (the award was presented by Marta Gil, General Director of Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability).
The members of the jury were Patricia Martínez, General Director of HR and Talent Management; Eduardo Campos, General Director of Sacyr Services; Javier Arias, HR Director of Sacyr Services; Ignacio Egea, President of Down Madrid, and Blanca Ballesteros, Director of Official Events at Patrimonio Nacional.
Sacyr Diversity Plan
This program is part of the company's Diversity Plan, which seeks to promote the inclusion of people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
Another of the initiatives we have carried out with Down Madrid are the two editions of Chef 21 where the participants had to prepare several dishes at our Deliquo facilities in Campo de las Naciones. Several contestants subsequently completed an internship program in one of the restaurants managed by Sacyr Services, which has enabled them to enter the labor market.
