Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico P3 company has launched its strategy “Safe Water for My Rural People”, which will allow more than 5,000 children to access potable water in 21 educational institutions in the Special District of Buenaventura, Dagua, and Yotoco (Buga's area of influence) thanks to the delivery of more than 300 water filters, with the support of the Sacyr Foundation.
In the Buenaventura-Loboguerrero-Buga road corridor, there are several rural communities that lack access to potable water for consumption. Therefore, the Concessionaire, with the Foundation's support, has initiated this action through its Social and Environmental Responsibility Plan.
To make the installation of these water filters possible, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the P3 company, the Government of Valle del Cauca, and the Valle Sanitation Execution Unit to establish the general guidelines for mutual collaboration to combine efforts in this project.
The Government of Valle del Cauca, through the Sanitation Execution Unit, will provide the required monitoring and technical assistance for the installation of the filters, technical training to teachers, students, and families benefiting from the filters, and the maintenance of these.
The commitment of La Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico goes further as it will develop a training process with students, the school community, and teachers, conducting pedagogical sessions that promote best practices in the sustainable management of our natural resources.
