The collaboration between Ayuda en Acción Foundation and the Sacyr Foundation, initiated in Peru in 2021, has culminated with excellent results, with the recent inauguration of the first beekeeping processing plant in the Cajamarca region. It has a beekeeping production capacity of 8,800 kg of honey annually, contributed by the current 160 producers.
During this period, eight beekeepers' associations were consolidated, and beekeeping was diversified into honey, pollen, and propolis. Additionally, four strategic components were developed: associativity, productivity, business management, and commercial integration.
The project initially planned to work with 96 beekeepers, but a total of 160 beekeepers was reached, encompassing 480 people (including family members of the producers and other local actors).
The beekeepers are located in the Jequetepeque Basin, across 21 populated centers and eight districts in the provinces of San Miguel, San Pablo, Contumazá, and Cajamarca.
This allowed them to enter other competitive markets, standardize prices and production. Currently, the average production is 13 kg per campaign per producer, reaching an average production of 18 to 20 kg in some cases.
