This is a campaign within the Sacyr Foundation's framework to collaborate with the LIBERA project, created by SEO/BirdLife, in collaboration with Ecoembes, to reduce trash and waste in nature. On this edition, Sacyr volunteers from our offices in Madrid, Alicante, and Asturias worked simultaneously picking up trash on beaches and reservoirs.
On Saturday, June 11th, our Madrid volunteers collected 45 kilos of trash on the Playa del Muro, in the Pantano de San Juan. In Alicante, the group that joined the litter cleanup campaign enjoyed a day out in the natural landscape of the Salinas de Santa Pola, where they collected all kinds of trash, including fishing nets.
The group in Asturias met at Somiedo natural park, and they were pleasantly surprised when they weighed the trash they collected throughout the day: they collected less than 2 kilos of trash, meaning that people are more and more aware of this kind of environmental issue. It seems like we are making progress little by little, and becoming more aware of protecting the environment.
