Over three years ago, Elena, our colleague from Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure, saw an announcement on this Intranet from the Sacyr Foundation seeking volunteers to provide phone companionship to seniors through the Adopt a Grandparent Foundation.
A couple of weeks later, she started speaking with Juli, her new "Galician grandmother." They connected immediately and have kept in touch with weekly phone calls for the past three years.
This summer, Elena, along with her husband and three children, spent a few days in Ponte de Lima, in northern Portugal, and decided to visit Juli in Tuy. The two shared an emotional day filled with gifts and the promise of seeing each other again.
This heartwarming story even made it to the local press: *Atlántico de Vigo* highlighted this beautiful “adoption.”
